Mount Beauty

About

Mount Beauty is situated in the Kiewa Valley at the foot of Mount Bogong, in Victoria’s High Country, around 30km west of Bright and 86km south of Wodonga.

The town was originally established in the 1940’s as a base for workers on the Kiewa Hydro-Electric Scheme. It is a place of natural beauty, as the name suggests, surrounded by the Alpine National Park, with lakes, forests and snowfields, and is now a popular tourist town, being close to the ski resort of Falls Creek, and a short drive to Mount Buffalo and Mount Hotham.

The Mount Beauty Pondage is a popular facility for watersports, and is surrounded by a walking track, parks, and picnic areas. The Mount Beauty area is a mountain bike hub, with rides for all abilities.

The area also boasts wineries showcasing cool climate sparkling wines and pinots, and gourmet restaurants.
