What support can I receive? 

Financial Support

A financial payment granted at the end of your placement to assist with travel costs and expenses.

Set amount of $150 per week of placement and is capped at $1,500

Student Accommodation

Affordable accommodation at our University of Melbourne student housing.

Accommodation Costs:

If eligible: $75 per week

Ineligible: $200 per week

Am I eligible? 

To be eligible for support, students must:


Nursing & Allied Health Student

Be enrolled in a nationally recognised nursing, allied health or other health science undergraduate or postgraduate degree with a recognised Australian education provider


Supported Location

Completing a placement in specified locations/towns in Victoria.

Placement Length

Placements is a minimum of 2 weeks full time (and noless than 4 days per week)

      How to Apply?

      Apply for student support
      1. Register a profile on the Rural Living Portal
      2. Once registered and logged in, select ‘apply now’
      3. Complete the application, including the placement you’re looking to get support for.
      4. Your application will be reviewed within 15 business days.
      5. Keep an eye out on the outcome of your application in your inbox.
