We understand that rural placements can be financially challenging. Fortunately, numerous supports and student accommodation sites exist to support your rural health training journey.

We have developed a list of other accommodation options available to students in rural locations across Australia.
This list consists of university, and health service, managed accommodation.

Financial Support
If you are ineligible for our funding, several scholarships and bursary opportunities may be available from partnering organisations. Please see the organisations below for more information.
Victoria Placements

- 2024 ACEN Student Scholarships – $1,500 Available, apply before 3rd May Student Scholarships | Australian Collaborative Education Network (acen.edu.au)
- Australian Rotary Rural Nursing Scholarships Rural nursing scholarship programs worth $12,500 to create incentives for students to undertake their final year of clinical placement in rural Australian communities.
- CRANAplus offers Nursing, midwifery and healthcare students to experience remote health firsthand by providing up to $1000 to cover the cost of fares, travel and accommodation associated with clinical placement – Scholarships & Grants | CRANAplus
- Going Rural North offers support for Queensland nursing, midwifery, allied health, or dentistry students on placements in North Queensland – Going Rural North
Indigenous Supports
- University of Melbourne - 'Murrup Barak' Supporting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student community
- Australian Rotary Health Indigenous health scholarships Yearly scholarships up to $5000 awarded to Indigenous tertiary students as a way to support the barriers of tertiary study. Jointly funded by a Rotary Club or District and the State or Federal Government.
- Bendigo Bank Indigenous Scholarship program This scholarship provides support for up to 2 years for students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander from their first year of university study.
- Kummargi Yulendj (Knowledge is rising) scholarship program Monash scholarships to support Indigenous and economically disadvantaged students, including those from regional or remote areas, to undertake higher education.
- Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme The Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme (PHMSS) is designed to encourage and assist undergraduate students in health-related disciplines to complete their studies and join the health workforce. The scheme provides scholarships for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people studying an entry-level health course.
