Dimboola
About
Dimboola is situated alongside the Wimmera River, in the heart of wheat growing country. There are some historic buildings still standing, such as the post office and the town hall.
The town hosts a number of events, including the German Festival in April, the Dimboola Show in October, and a Regatta in November.
The Wimmera River hugs the western and southern sides of the town, which is lined with trees and walking tracks. There are also sections that are popular for fishing and boating.
Pink Lake is located a few kilometres west of the town on the Western Highway. It is surrounded by gum and paperbark trees, with distinctive salt tolerant plants growing closer to the lake. The salt was commercially harvested from the lake for many years, and relics from that time can still be seen.
