Mansfield

Mansfield is situated in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, surrounded by forests and renowned for its scenery.

In its past life Mansfield was a stock route camp and a gold mining service centre in the mid 1800’s. The town still has many historical buildings in the town centre, but most famous is probably a marble monument in the wide central strip erected in 1880 as a tribute to a group of policemen killed by Ned Kelly.

The main industry of Mansfield is tourism. Visitors to the town visit the nearby ski resorts of Mount Buller and Mount Stirling, and Lake Eildon, Jamieson and Bonnie Doon for fishing and water sports.

The University of Melbourne’s UDRH has accommodation in Mansfield to support health professional student’s clinical placements within our region. The accommodation is available to both undergraduate and post graduate health professional students.
