Bright

Bright is situated in Victoria’s high country, 81km south-east from Wangaratta on the Great Alpine Road.

It is a popular tourist centre as it is close to many mountain and ski resorts in the area, as well as Alpine and Mount Buffalo National Parks. There are several lookouts close by that give good views of the town and surrounding forests. Some of these are only accessible in the drier months or with a 4WD.

The town is particularly attractive in the autumn months, as the large variety of deciduous trees in the area put on a dazzling display. This is celebrated annually by the Bright Autumn Festival.

For cyclists, the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail extends from Wangaratta to Bright with a branch leading to Beechworth. And for art enthusiasts, there is a community gallery in the town with regular exhibitions.
